Farewell to Douglas Hudgins We at the astrochemistry lab and all of our friends in the astrophysics branch at NASA Ames Research Center bid adieu to our good friend Douglas Hudgins, scientist and Branch Chief. Dr. Hudgins has been an important scientist in the field of astrochemistry, having measured the IR spectra of more PAHs and PAH cations in argon matrix than anyone else in the world. His laboratory work provided the experimental proof that was needed to demonstrate that the IR emission features seen towards dying carbon rich stars, star forming reations, and most anywhere radiation is abundant, is caused by excited aromatics in one form or another. Doug is heading off to NASA HQ in Washington D.C. for a year where we wish him the greatest success.
