Louis Allamandola recently won three great honors. He was elected a fellow by two prestigious science organizations, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Physical Society. He was also recognized with The Presidential Rank Award, one of the highest honors a civilian can receive. He is being recognised for 'seminal contributions in astrochemistry that have forever revolutionized our understanding of interstellar molecules, interstellar ices, and the chemical physics of the interstellar medium.' Science Stardust Cover image Stardust Mission Co-Investigator Scott Sandford is first author of the report 'Organics Captured from Comet 81P/Wild 2 by the Stardust Spacecraft' that appeared in the Mid December special issue of the journal Science devoted to the Stardust mission. Dr. Sandford is also co-author on the report 'Infrared Spectroscopy of Comet 81P/Wild 2 Samples Returned by Stardust' and the research article 'Comet 81P/Wild 2 Under a Microscope'. Dr. Sandford was one of three people who presented at an international press conference last week and he has been quoted abundantly in the press including: the San Francisco Chronicle, the LA times, the San Jose Mercury News, the Guardian (UK), NBC11, KGO-TV CH 7 ABC, spacedaily.com, the BBC, and ~100 other press outlets from across the globe.
